Merzouga
Merzouga, a small desert town, is on the edge of the vast Sahara desert near the Algerian border. Many people come to Merzouga to visit the dunes and ride camels out to an oasis. This oasis lies at the base of one of the tallest sand dunes in Morocco, Erg Chebbi. This impressive dune rises up out of the desert plain to about 150 meters high. Those who have the strength and stamina can enjoy a beautiful sunrise from the top of the dune in the early morning hours. The constantly changing shades of yellows, reds, oranges, and golden hues play across the sands during the changing times of the day making this a favorite and memorable place to visit for many people who journey to Morocco.
